Presentation delivered by a master is normally more effective than a transcendent presentation delivered by an amateur. However I DO know and love statistics–I just took a grad class in Stat and thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a repost of my final project for my 10th-grade Calculus AB class. But I wouldn't want to teach it to high school students. Calculus was like lifting weights for my brain. Of course, if you're sitting around doing something mind-numbing like calculus, a casual listen-through of your favorite albums is perfectly acceptable. Calculus was a college thing, and not even first-year course. Apparently putting the two together in a drink was like calculus to my brain. Sometimes there's a long line at the drive-thru. So I need to correct my calculus by factoring in probability. I think I'm smart, but moments like this make me feel pretty dumb. Words without inflection, tone of voice, confidence, and enthusiasm are like calculus lectures: boring. When April rolled around, I was mired in a mass of studying: Spanish, Macroeconomics, Psychology, and Calculus. And sometimes I have bad experiences and don't enjoy the taste. I've just found that I don't really enjoy calculus, I don't have any particular trouble understanding it, but I have not been able to make myself put the work into mastering it that I should have. Full disclosure: I teach AP Calculus and I've never taught AP Statistics. Calculus meant you were going to graduate school for something, like physics. I took a brief hiatus from blogging in order to study like a mad-woman for my finals. It's possible I won't be that satisfied by my Taco Bell. Today We just want to enjoy calculus again, not have it be another same ole slog.
